Cultivating Creativity
One of our many collaborative partners is the San Bernardino City Unified School District (SBCUSD). With them, we operate Creative Before and After School Programs for Success (CAPS) at three of our After School Impact (ASI) school sites. These programs, as the name implies, are heavy on creativity.
Before I go on, I would like to briefly state what creativity is not. It is not merely choosing to color a horse purple and the sky magenta. It is not reciting the same poem hundreds, perhaps thousands, of children have memorized since the days of Plato.
No, creativity is the formation of original ideas by use of ones imagination. Creativity is what produced the first sheet of paper and the first wax crayon. Creativity is what caused someone to attempt to dye wool a different color than just “sheep.” Creativity is what the great men and women of out past have used to push us forward as a people.
This is the type of creativity that we seek to cultivate in our after school programs. Through young inventors clubs, poetry and creative writing workshops, and STEM based problem solving, we stretch the minds of the students to think beyond worksheets and standardized tests. By doing so, they will be better equipped tackle the demands placed upon them both in and out of school.
In order to cultivate creativity at home, here are a few things you can do:
- Seek to make the ordinary strange and the strange ordinary
- Embrace failure and learn from mistakes
- Be open to different ideas, no matter how out of the box they might be
- Expose your children, and yourself, to great works of art in any medium (painting, music, dance, etc.)
- HAVE FUN!

New Partnership - City Link
Project Life Impact and City Link, a ministry of Water of Life Community Church, are partnering to provide services to the Fontana area. This will include PLI’s five service components and City Links own list of programs. City Link will be the hosting site for KidZone and other community outreach events that PLI will conduct in Fontana. We look forward to long and fruitful partnership. When we work together the impact is greater!

What were you and I created for? Not just living, not just existing, we are here to make a difference. If you are like me you may think if I can buy, do, or get this or that then I will be fulfilled and that will make a difference in me. Wrong. Jesus said if we lose our lives then we will get them back, (Matthew 10:39).
Why would He say such a thing? He was telling us that we were made for something bigger than ourselves, bigger than our ideas and yes, bigger than our needs and wants. He was telling us that surrendering to Him and giving ourselves to others is what would actually fulfill our deepest desires. That is why touching others is such a vital part of Water of Life’s ministry.
WOL Local Outreach exists to reach out to those in need by investing our lives into theirs. God loves people and has called His church to go meet people, where they’re at to love them no matter what. Sometimes that means packing boxes of food to feed the homeless and hungry. Other times that means rolling up your sleeves, getting dirty and physically transforming our community. We take God’s command to serve the poor seriously, and we seek to learn from those who have less.
A Word from the CEO
As I reflect back on the first three months of this year, I am very humbled and grateful for not only you, our amazing partners but also that our organization has been able to effectively make a lasting IMPACT in our community.
At our open house, held in February, we were able to forge new partnerships with organizations that offer resources for individuals we previously had limited resources for. We have also been given opportunities to share with other organizations and individuals all that Project Life Impact does. It is amazing what can happen when people and organizations come together for a common purpose and goal.
As we come into the second quarter of this year there are new opportunities and challenges that present themselves. We are looking forward to the new programs and resources that we will soon be able to offer students and families.

A Word from the CEO
I am very excited about the many things that are happening here at Project Life Impact. First of all, I would like to extend many thanks to all of our partners that attended our Open House. We deeply appreciate the contributions you and your organizations have made to Project Life Impact. If you were unable to attend stop on by and we can give you a tour.
Secondly, we are kicking off a fundraising campaign. Our goal is to raise $50, 000 in 10 weeks. Although, that number may seem substantial it is very possible with IMPACT Partners such as yourself. Every little bit counts.
Our mission here at Project Life Impact is to impact our community, however you too can help. We are in need of volunteers to assist us with our various programs. If you are interested in volunteering please contact us.

Students at E. Neal Roberts Elementary enjoy their time in the CAPS-ASI Program. They had a crafts club making lanyards. They also had a space exploration club where they learned about the NASA space program and built Mars Rovers out of marshmallows.
